A NEW CONSTELLATION - 2023

A New Constellation connects artists with older adults to co-create pieces of art. This project began during the pandemic in 2021, and we’re delighted this year to have collaborated with two new partners, The Old Courts and The North Wall to develop this project. We have worked with two fantastic artists, Rory Aaron and Emelia Hutchinson, who have worked with eight participants in Wigan and Leigh, and Oxford, to co-create brand new pieces of art.

Each artist was connected with four older adults and they spoke over the phone every week for four weeks. These chats have led to the eight pieces of art presented below.

This project runs alongside the development of Ad Infinitum’s new production exploring care for older people, If You Fall, which is currently on tour around the UK.

Thank you so much to our brilliant collaborators:

We chatted with Rory and Emelia about their experiences of the project:

“As an artist it has been so freeing to connect with each person and be inspired by them, allowing them the space and time to tell their stories and share their opinions. These four pieces of work range from observations to reflections to protests about what it is that makes these four individuals themselves. It’s been an incredibly heartwarming process and has shown me the joy that comes with age”

- Emelia Hutchinson

"It has been a fantastic experience working on this Ad Infinitum project with The Old Courts. Through speaking with the participants, I’ve had the most engaging conversations about their own personal history, and the history of Wigan. It has shown me the importance of connection, remembering and reminiscing on big and small moments of life. The participants have continually broken stereotypes, made me laugh and cry, and amazed me with their wisdom and knowledge"

- Rory Aaron

A NEW CONSTELLATION - 2021

We are delighted to present A New Constellation thirteen new pieces of art which you can explore below. This project is a first for us at Ad Infinitum and we are very moved by the connections that have been create.png

During the pandemic we wanted to find a way to be useful at a time when theatres were closed and our usual way of working wasn't possible. The project emerged from the ongoing lockdown: during this period of isolation we wanted to connect and collaborate with people to tell their stories.

We recruited four brilliant artists: Naomi Joseph, Selina Brown, Lizzie Wiggs and Vic Llewellyn to chat with people and co-create pieces of art to express their reflections about this moment in time. Each artist was connected with three to four, mostly older, people, and they spoke over the phone every week for five weeks. These chats have led to the
thirteen pieces of art presented below.

Thank you so much for being such fantastic collaborators:
